The way to solve public issues should be public governance. Public governance is the governance that emphasizes openness and dynamic participation. In the modern state governance system, most problems are public problems that involve various individuals, bodies and even the entire society. Thus, there is no doubt that all the citizens have the right to become part of the governance process, especially for problems related to their benefits. The experience of modern governance has shown that the participation of various parties and the opportunities to show their activeness will largely improve the effectiveness of governance. As a result, making governance go public is necessary and important.

Holding the belief in “solving public problems through public governance”, Peking University Institute of Public Governance aims to promote the common view of local-state-region-global governance. We will conduct research activities, build and maintain a platform for academic communications, attract and cultivate talents, and promote research achievements.
