The Peking University Institute of Public Governance (IPG) Management Committee held its 2020 work planning meeting on Dec 6, 2019 at Leo KoGuan building. The leadership team—Dean Jirong Yan, Vice Dean Haiyan Li, Vice Dean Hua Ju, Vice Dean Jie Yan, Vice Dean Huang Huang—and the executive team attended. The group summarized the major tasks in the past two months and discussed the future missions in 2020.
The accomplishments of IPG center on the following six aspects: staffing, finance, policy development, publicity platforms establishment, conference planning, and research management. In the next stage, with the formal launch of IPG, the institute would focus on research projects management and Think Tank establishment. The ultimate goal is to build a case center and a database of our own. In the meantime, an internal communication system is needed for the effectiveness of administration. The update of policies and rules in different areas, such as staff management, finance, research etc., should be continued. It is also important to make sure the publicity platforms are effective and well-maintained, reporting the most up-to-date news, researches, and academic events at IPG.
In 2020, a key role of IPG, in addition to its routine work, is to promote and support research projects, especially in the areas of politics and public administration. The contribution of IPG will be important not only to the development of these two majors in School of Governance, but also to Peking University in general. The group had a heated discussion on the potential areas and subjects for future research. Members of the management committee have confirmed the three major types of research projects and their corresponding management policies.
