Honorary Experts Panel

On November 2, Peking University Institute of Public Governance held a special panel discussion with the Honorary Experts group at Leo KoGuan Building room 304. The six honorary experts: Former Chairman of Peking University Council Mr. Yanshen Ren, Former Deputy Director of the Central Rural Work Leadership Committee--who is also the alumnus of Peking University--Mr. Chunqing Yuan, Former Mayor of Beijing Municipal Mr. Xuenong Meng, Former Vice Chairman of the Beijing Olympic Games Planning Committee Mr. Xiaoyu Jiang, Former Vice Minister of the Central United Front Work Department Mr. Xiqing Chen, and Former member of the Ministry of Science and Technology Party Committee Mr. Jing’an Zhang were invited as the panelists. Additionally, Dean of Peking University Institute of State Governance Studies, Professor Puqu Wang, and Dean of Peking University Institute of Public Governance, Professor Jirong Yan attended the panel. Vice Dean of IPG, Ms. Haiyan Li presided the panel.

The discussion was centered on “how to provide efficient guidance and support to Institute of Public Governance”. The experts actively exchanged their views and ideas on the future direction and mechanism the institute should follow. They all agree that Politics and Public Administration are the two majors with high practical values. Therefore, we must combine theories and practice, with the support from scholars and leadership, in our research and teaching processes. Through the meeting, it was confirmed that all the honorary experts will either be in charge of or participate in research projects in the institute. In addition, they will also hold seminars or open special courses on this topic, coach students in terms of their research and thesis-writing abilities, and give strategic suggestions to the overall development of the institute.
